Estonia has two forest planting seasons a year, when hundreds of thousands of trees are planted to create a new generation of forest. Eesti Metsameister has always considered forest planting important, which is why we are very pleased to announce a record result this autumn. We also take you behind the scenes of the 2024 trends.<\/p>\n
This autumn, Eesti Metsameistri Taimekasvatus sent a record number of spruce, birch, pine and black alder seedlings out to grow in the forest. Over two months, 547,000 home-grown forest plants were dispatched \u2013 40% more than last autumn, when the final figure was 387,000 seedlings.<\/p>\n
There was also strong demand for our complete service, where a forest owner can conveniently order all of the regeneration work from a single service provider. Owners of 81 hectares chose our all-in-one solution, receiving soil preparation and planting with home-grown forest seedlings. Last autumn, interest in the autumn complete service was 30% lower. One of the main reasons for the rise in interest is the change in weather over recent years, and certainly also the growing awareness of forest owners.<\/p>\n
Planting was carried out all over Estonia, covering the counties of Tartu, V\u00f5ru, P\u00f5lva, Valga, L\u00e4\u00e4ne-Viru, J\u00e4rva, Rapla, P\u00e4rnu and Hiiu.<\/p>\n
Just as important is plantation maintenance, which ensures the healthy development and survival of the young forest planted in previous seasons. This autumn, maintenance work was carried out on 130 hectares.<\/p>\n
High-quality plants of Estonian origin are also in demand abroad, where as much as 45% of this autumn’s production was exported. Plants travel from our nursery in Southern Estonia to different countries with reliable carriers who can keep the plants in good condition throughout the long journey.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe 2024 autumn season turned out to be considerably bigger and busier than we could have predicted based on recent years. The biggest challenge was for our nursery staff, who often had to get their hands dirty at weekends too in order to fulfil the orders.<\/p>\n
The star of this season was definitely birch. The popularity of birch in recent years has not faded at all \u2013 if anything, it has grown \u2013 so anyone planning to plant birch in the 2025 spring or autumn season should think about it well in advance and reserve their plants early.<\/p>\n
In addition to the local market, interest in our plants has also grown abroad \u2013 our partners in other countries are very satisfied with the quality of our plants and our cooperation. Overall, we received a lot of positive feedback during the autumn season from our customers on both the local and foreign markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
